Tip 1: Use winter diesel
When the temperature is below 0°C, be sure to use -10# or -20# diesel to prevent diesel from waxing and clogging the fuel lines and injectors.
Tip 2: Preheat thoroughly
Turn the key to the ON position and wait for the preheat indicator light to go out before starting. Insufficient preheating can worsen carbon buildup on injectors.
Tip 3: Add anti-gel additive
Add an appropriate amount of anti-gel additive to the diesel to effectively lower the diesel's pour point and prevent waxing.
Tip 4: Keep the battery in good condition
Battery performance declines in winter; ensure the battery is in good condition to provide sufficient starting current.
